Energy

Got Energy ?

Do you feel like your energy is flatlined? Like when the alarm clock goes off there is nothing there?

Only by sheer will power do you drag yourself out of bed. Have you noticed you are much more sensitive to stress than you used to?

Stressful situations that were once was no big deal are enough to cause you to loose your patience. This could be symptoms of trashed cortisol levels.

Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that plays a crucial role in allowing you to wake up in the morning, providing energy and giving you the ability to handle stress.

When cortisol levels are imbalanced, whether they’re too high or too low, it can make you feel fatigued, anxious, depressed, and feeling like you are burning the candle at both ends.

So let’s talk about how we can start optimizing your cortisol levels and improve your health and energy without relying on medication.

To optimize your cortisol levels you need to get on a consistent sleep schedule. Have a bedtime routine and try to be consistent .  Turn off electronics and screens an hour before you hit the hay.

You also need to reduce inflammation . This is largely going to rely on you changing your diet.

Inflammation is like a block to cortisol production. You can take all the medication or supplements but if your lifestyle resembles that of the standard American, the unresolved inflammation in your body is going to prevent cortisol production.

Breath work is also crucial in boosting cortisol .  Ever heard of box breathing ? Draw a square on your hand or in your mind as you do 4 breaths in, hold for 4, 4 breaths out, hold for 4, repeat.

This hacks your flight and fight nervous system and forces your brain to kick into one of ultimate BLISS!!!

Now if you have been stressed for years then ultimate bliss might not feel like sitting on the beach watching the sun go down. It might feel like you didn’t burn your dinner in the microwave this time. Patience and consistency is key.

Last but not least is you need exercise, to boost cortisol.  Doing 20-30 minutes of exercise 2-3 times per week is a non-negotiable and no walking doesn’t count.

The reason is if you don’t do some kind of weight lifting or HIIT exercise your body doesn’t use up the old cortisol that your body produced, so it just uses the same old boring cortisol over and over again.

Think of it like chewing on the same piece of gum for 10 months. Blah. Exercise forces your muscles to get rid of the old cortisol, and now you get a brand new piece of gum that is a bursting with fresh peppermint flavor . YAY!!!

So in conclusion reduce inflammation with diet , exercise, do breathwork and get good sleep. These are the gold standards of optimizing your cortisol levels. Thus allowing you to deal with life as if you were a Disney princess.

Remember test first then fix. Adrenal fatigue can feel a lot like thyroid problems.

So don’t play the guessing game, get tested first then you know what your doing.

This triggers chronic inflammation, digestive issues, and even autoimmune reactions. While conventional medicine is still catching up to the importance of gut health, functional medicine recognizes leaky gut as a root cause of many chronic conditions, including bloating, fatigue, skin issues, and joint pain.
