What Guitars and Inflammation Have in Common
Allow me to be the first to say I am no guitarist. I can’t even get all the way through a simple song at this point… but I am learning.
I decided to pick up my guitar after almost a full year of “taking a break”.
I have always wanted to know how to play the guitar with ease.
The very thought of being on stage feeling like BB King, or Howlin’ Wolf, or participating in bands like Fleetwood Mac, ZZ Top, or Steely Dan is enough to give me the goosebumps!
Infecting crowds with good tunes and sick solos? AHHHH!!! YES PLEASE!
But then I am brought violently back to reality.
Pluck, Pick, TWANG!! (wow that sounds really bad)
My instructor tells me to just “keep practicing”, and “soon it will be second nature, you won’t even have to think about it.”
I keep practicing, and with time and repetition, the tune slowly becomes recognizable.
You know what, my instructor actually knows what he’s talking about!
I am developing a new skill!!
Learning to live a healthy lifestyle in an extremely toxic world is no different.
There is no fast road to mastering the guitar, but with enough time, repetition, and patience, it comes together to something you can truly appreciate.
How to Live a Healthy Lifestyle
The same goes for living a healthy lifestyle.
With enough practice, patience, and repetition… it ALL comes together.
However, we rarely treat our health the way we treat learning a new skill.
Somehow we think health should be fast, automatic, and perfect the first time through.
That is simply not the case.
So here are three skills you can start learning to decrease inflammation in your body.
Who knows, you might end up on stage with The Allman Brothers tearing it up one day!
Inflammation is the increase of fluid outside of your cells
With this increase of fluid, you can experience a sense of tightness in the joints and puffiness in the ankles.
Learn to Decrease Inflammation
These are the three skills you can practice, repeat and learn to master.
- Give your stomach a helping hand with Apple Cider Vinegar.
Apple Cider Vinegar acts as a fire extinguisher on an upset stomach. Helping the digestive system fight stress and inflammation. The less inflammation in your gut the more your body can absorb valuable vitamins and minerals.
The stomach catches everything we throw at it, literally.
Living in a world that is saturated with sugar, fat, and salt, sometimes it needs a helping hand.
Do this especially if you are experiencing heartburn!
Mix 1 Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in 8 oz of water before every meal.
For those with sensitive tummies, you may have to start with 1 teaspoon (but increase to 1 Tablespoon as fast as possible).
2. Avoid Highly Processed Oils
One of the biggest contributors to inflammation is highly processed oils. I have a previous article that lays out What highly processed oils are.
Every time you eat these highly processed oils… picture throwing gasoline on a fire. The amount of inflammation in the body skyrockets as the flames of the fire would rise.
It looks like swelling in the ankles, stiffness in the fingers, brain fog, headaches, fatigue, IBS, constipation, diarrhea, memory loss, mood swings…. I can go on and on.
By not adding fuel to the fire – you are giving your body a fighting chance to HEAL from the inside out.
3. Stay Hydrated
We all know lack of water causes dehydration. But did you know that dehydration causes a standstill on this inside of your body?
Water allows your body to operate like a finely tuned watch. Being dehydrated is like throwing sand in the gears and still expecting your body to keep time.
Drink 1/2 of your body weight in oz. EVERYDAY.
Bonus if you add a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt to your water.
