The Power of a Decision

A couple watching the sunset on vacation

Have you ever experienced a moment where someone said a common phrase in an uncommon way?

I had that experience this week during a consultation with Nancy. It was right after I asked her the question. “Why do you want to make changes to your health, why is it important to you?”

A question I have asked 1000’s of times to 1000’s people… I thought I had heard it all.

BUT

The way Nancy answered this question, well… it stopped me in my tracks.

She said “Dr. Sauer you don’t understand…

" I HAVE TO FEEL BETTER"

I have nothing but respect for Nancy’s decision. I have nothing but admiration for her choice to make a change in her life that will ultimately allow her and her husband to have an amazing retirement. One that is full of freedom to travel when and where they want.

At the end of the day, I sat back and wondered “Why aren’t there more people like Nancy?”

Why would anyone willingly choose to continue to live a life imprisoned by their own body?

Why would anyone know there is a healthier future for themselves but then choose to NOT take action?

  • Is it the fear of change?
  • Is it the unknown?
  • Is it the fact that you have tried so many things in the past that haven’t worked, so why try again?
  • Is it the belief that its too late for you?
  • Placing no value on yourself or your health like society wants you to believe?

I have no idea what the reason is for you. Here is what I do know, without a doubt…

If you choose to do nothing, your life will get WORSE.

If you choose to take action, your life will get BETTER.

You Are Making A Choice

Either way you are making a choice.

What would have happened if George Washington only got really mad at the British? Never stepping up and leading a band of rag-tag militia?

History would look a little different.

It is both making the decision and acting on that decision that will get you the results you deserve.

There is no doubt in my mind that Nancy will overcome her health challenges. The payoff will be enormous!
I can’t wait to hear her story about how her and her husband dipped their toes in the ocean on their trans-continental tour. Or the joy they both experience in connecting with their grandkids.

If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and want to learn to live a life that brings back that sense of youth. Then it’s time you book a call with us to see if we would be a good fit.

Either way the decision is yours.

Natural Ways to Heal Leaky Gut: A Functional Medicine Approach

Leaky gut syndrome, also known as intestinal permeability, occurs when the lining of the small intestine becomes damaged, allowing toxins, undigested food particles, and bacteria to leak into the bloodstream. This triggers chronic inflammation, digestive issues, and even autoimmune reactions. While conventional medicine is still catching up to the importance of gut health, functional medicine recognizes leaky gut as a root cause of many chronic conditions, including bloating, fatigue, skin issues, and joint pain.

If you find yourself racing to the bathroom, it’s more than just an inconvenience—it’s a sign that your gut is out of balance. Imagine waking up every morning with a queasy stomach, unable to enjoy meals without feeling sick. That was Sarah’s reality for over a year.
