Walk This Way!

She Told Me To
Walk This Way!
Talk This Way!
Walk This Way!
Talk This Way!

Just Teach Me To Strut
Ooh, a-Like This!

Okay, that might not be exactly what Steven Tyler says while on stage. But it’s close.

Mr. Tyler does have a point however there is a right and wrong way to walk and I prefer to “Walk This Way”

When I was a younger lad I never thought about how I walked. I just assumed like everyone else that you simply walk the way you walk… and there is no right or wrong way. WRONG!!!

Here are the 4 things you can do to

WALK THIS WAY!!!

4 Tips to Alleviate Your Pain

1. Point Your Toes Straight Forward.

Look at your footprints in the sand or snow. Do you walk like a duck?

Your duck steps tell me that you have weak muscles on the inside of your legs. This will lead to low back pain, knee pain, and foot pain.

So, point your toes straight forward!!

2. Walk With a Purpose.

What do I mean by that? Walk like you have places to be. Walk faster than you are used to. Push off with your toes, land mid-foot, don’t jam all of your weight onto your heel.

It will feel awkward at first, but you have to re-train your muscles.

When you walk with a purpose, you are forcing your muscles to engage and will help avoid that lower back pain you feel at the end of the day.

3. Landing Mid-Foot.

Do not jam your foot into the floor with every step. It places a tremendous amount of abuse on your ankle joint. AND adds to problems later on.

Landing mid-foot will feel awkward at first but trust me, the learning curve will be worth it!

4. Remind Yourself Constantly.

If you are walking and have to constantly think about how to improve your gait, it is NORMAL.

Remember you are retraining your muscles how to walk and work. It will feel very unnatural at first.

Allow yourself 1-2 weeks until this feels like the normal way to walk.

Till next time, don’t forget to “Walk This Way!!!”
